The group came up with a general outline for the focus groups. The four parts will roughly be divided
into 15-minute segments.

Send them chart ahead of time – asking them to fill out and send to us – 2 hour blocks

We’ll refine these questions over the next week or so
Diane, John, Darren, Steve, William have volunteered to be moderators.
We would like to have one focus group of undergrads – and one for grads
6-8 in each group
Would like to meet in the Director’s Conference Room – William will reserve room once we have dates
We would like to send the volunteers a chart so they can sketch out ahead of time how they spend a
normal day. In 2-hour blocks. They’ll send it back ahead of time.
We can use the responses to guide the sessions.
How do we make this fun?
Fiona will talk to TLT about using some of their student workers in the focus groups and about recording
the sessions.
Two questions we didn’t answer:
1. How to get a broad sample of students? – Undergrads only?
2. Send them form w/ basic demographic info ahead of time?
Large-Scale Survey
We’d like to get students involved in the ongoing process, especially when developing questions for the
large survey
Investigate Lib-Qual – John will talk to Nathan – Get information on how the previous Lib-Qual survey
was done in the library; pricing; and a general sense of how they work.
