plant easy to grow?” Our new Tough Guys series is the answer – a collection of the
toughest, easiest to grow annual flowers designed to take extreme conditions. We look at
garden trials all over the US for easy-to-grow plants that take heat and full sun then
narrow the list down to a few very tough annual flowers that can really ‘take it’!
We love the new begonias – over the past few years this category has had some exciting
breeding offer us all sizes of plants and flowers. Begonias generally take a wide range of
growing conditions and the new Baby Wing series really caught our eye.
Baby Wing excels in hot and sunny flowerbeds – it looks amazing in
patio pots with a spreading plant habit that will tumble over the edge of
your containers. Add in amazing flower power and Baby Wing is a
great tough plant!
Angelonia is another flower whose hot and sunny
performance is spectacular. Spikes if lavender and purple toned flowers
will perk up garden beds or patio pots. Hot – no problem – Sun all day –
no problem. Just add water and stand back.
Laurentia has a delicate small flower that can highlight a
basket or patio pot. While the flower looks delicate the plant will fool you
as it really has performed at trials all throughout the Midwest and
Southeast! This summer bloomer is very easy to grow and is much tougher
than it looks!
Salvia Victoria Blue is one of our very favorite annual flowers, as it always
looks great. Attractive foliage and a flower spike that will take your breath away, Victoria
Blue takes all sorts of tough conditions – blooming all year in hot and sunny locations.
