WATER QUALITY & TREATMENT INTERNSHIP
LAS VEGAS VALLEY WATER DISTRICT/SOUTHERN NEVADA WATER AUTHORITY
The Las Vegas Valley Water District/Southern Nevada Water Authority is seeking applicants for a paid
internship within the Water Quality & Treatment Division. The duration of the internship is one year with
possible extension depending on funding. The Internship is available to current college/university students at
the Sophomore, Junior or Senior levels of education.
Internship Work Location:
River Mountains Water Treatment Facility
1350 Richard Bunker Avenue, Henderson, NV 89015
Internship Assignment:
This position will involve basic chemistry laboratory work/training. The idea is to expose the intern to a
professional laboratory environment. The duties will vary but the following are representative of the position:




Sample preparation (filtration, extraction, centrifugation, weighing, etc.)
Glassware preparation
Basic analyses like pH, UV absorbance, electrical conductivity, 3D fluorescence
Bottle preparation (labeling, preservation, documentation)
Eligibility Requirements: (The eligibility requirements must continue to be met in order to remain in an
Internship position.)
 Current enrollment (Sophomore or higher) within an undergraduate degree program related to Chemistry,
Biology, or Engineering.
 Current enrollment with a minimum of 9 credit hours per semester.
 Available to work up to twenty-five hours per week Monday through Thursday.
 US citizenship or legal right to work in the US, including authorization to work off campus.
Salary: $14-$18 per hour, depending on educational level
Hours of Work: Up to 25 hours per week between 7am-5:30pm, 7am-6pm or 6am-4:30pm, M-Th
