ZONE TOWNSHIP CENTRAL SCHOOL PARENT COUNCIL 2014-2015 We are a small group of parents who are interested in the future of our school and students. We do our best to represent the views of parents and community to the school and council. This involves just a few hours every other month. In the school year 2014/15, Parent Council had another successful and wonderful year at Zone Township Central School. The parent council welcomed many new members this year. It great to have new faces and fresh ideas. Their input they provided was valuable. A HUGE "Thank you" for the volunteers as well. Your participation does not go unnoticed or unappreciated. Parent Council aims to raise funds throughout the year by fundraising in order to provide the students and teachers with items of interest. This past year the fundraising events that took place included Christmas in the Village Bazaar, hot dog days, hamburger days, and grilled cheese lunches. A big hit with the kids. Parent Council also supported the students in Crusader night and track and field day with a bbq. Campbell soup labels are also continuously tallied. In order to keep the snack program running smoothly and efficiently as it does, the Council donates towards the purchases of healthy snacks for our children. We hear it is well used and the snacks are tasty treats for the students to enjoy. Christmas was the time we provided the “Festive Lunch” for our students. It was catered this year by Fred and Donna Oriet, Inwood, Ontario. There was not much left over as the students enjoyed healthy helpings of delicious food and tasty treats. It was great to see the smiles on the faces as they lined up to get a taste of what was to come over the holidays. . This year, with the extra funds the Parent Council of Zone have raised, we were able to purchase extra tables to be used by students, staff and community. At the Grade 8 Graduation and year-end assembly, the Parent Council purchased awards that were distributed to students for citizenship, dedicated effort and the valedictorian. For grade eight students, the Parent Council presents them with punch and cupcakes at their year-end event to say THANK YOU for their hard work in the course of the past few years. As well, their grade eight group photo was supported through Parent Council who believes that having memories of friendships is important as they embark on their new journey into secondary school. Parent Council members have other events and ideas that are up and coming for the new school year 2015/16. We do welcome members, new and old and all ideas are welcome. We meet on the second Tuesday evening of the month at 6:15pm, once every two months. Please come and join us and see what it is all about. Thank you. PARENT COUNCIL
