Influenza Update



To date 37 children in the U.S. have died from influenza compared
to a total of 282 deaths in 2009-2010 influenza season.
Symptoms of the Flu: Fever of more than 100° F, Cough, Sore
Throat, Body Aches, Headache, Chills & Fatigue, Vomiting &
Diarrhea
The vaccine has been approximately 60% effective against flurelated illness. IT IS NOT TOO LATE TO GET VACCINATED!

Pediatric Disaster Preparedness
The Center for Pediatric Emergency Medicine and EMSC have collaborated to develop the Pediatric Preparedness: A Resource for
Planning, Management and Provision of Out-of-Hospital Emergency Care. This is a great review of pediatric emergencies in regards
to developing task forces, understanding the disaster management strategies, stages of development in cognitive, verbal, motor,
