with the correct vocabulary word (sunny, rainy, cloudy,
windy, snowy, foggy). Have students raise their hand to

Activity 1: Speed Drawing
Each student will get 6 blank cards to draw on (a blank
sheet of A4 paper cut into 6 rectangles. Students will be
given 1 minute total to draw a picture for each new word
(sunny, rainy, cloudy, windy, snowy, and foggy).
Use a PPT to show a picture of the word and ask, “How is
the weather?” They will answer in unison “It’s
_________.” Then they have 10 seconds to draw their
picture. Move on to each picture until all 6 are done.
Activity 2: Memory Card Game
Put the students into pairs.
Call out each vocabulary word and show the students that
they should hold up and show their drawing to one
another so that they understand what each other’s drawing
represents.
Then pairs will rock, scissors, paper to see who is player A
or player B (player A is the winner).
First they will spread their cards face down on their desks
and mix them around.
Player A will pick up a card first. Student B will ask them
“How is the weather?” Student A looks at the picture and
responds using the key phrase “It’s ________.” with the
correct vocabulary word.
If correct, player A will pick up another card and repeat
the same question and answer model.
If player A gets 2 of the same cards they get to keep both
cards. If they don’t make a match they put both cards back
on the desk facedown.
Then it is player B’s turn to choose a card…..
The winner is the student with the most cards.
Assessment / Extension
Activities / Home fun
.
Time: 5 mins
Summary: Look at the objectives once more on the board. Review
vocabulary words using the key expressions one more time as a class
in unison.
Evaluation of Objectives: Students will be given a matching
worksheet for homework with the 6 key phrases and pictures that
represent each phrase. We will explain that they must match the
correct picture to the correct phrase and do question #1 as an example.
They will complete it and bring it to the next class so that we can
check their understanding of the unit.
Closing: Let the students know they did a great job and say goodbye
and see you next time!
▪ Anticipated Problems and Solutions:
1. Problem: Students will not draw on the cards quick enough during production
Solution: Tell the students they have 10 seconds to draw their “best” picture
2. Problem: Students will not be able to decipher their partner’s drawings
Solution: Before the game begins, call out each vocabulary word and show the
students that they should hold up and show their drawing to one another so that
they understand what each other’s drawing represents.
3. Problem: Technical Problems
Solution: Have pictures of the vocabulary words ready in case the computer fails.
