ORTING CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES
February 26, 2014
Mayor Joachim Pestinger called the meeting to order with the flag salute at 7:00 pm in the Orting High School Performing
Arts Center. Roll call found in attendance Deputy Mayor Sam Colorossi, Councilmembers Scott Drennen, Rickord Fritz,
Josh Penner, William Birkes and Barbara Ford, and Ex-Officio Mahoney. Councilmember Fritz moved to excuse
Councilmember Hunt. Second by Councilmember Ford. Motion carried. Councilmember Hunt arrived at 9:17pm.

Councilmember Birkes. Motion carried.
COMMENTS FROM CITIZENS:
The Council received testimony from the public regarding public safety and the murder of
citizen Michael Compton.

included an expected increase in the national flood insurance rates.

Council Retreat
The Council agreed to hold the annual retreat in April, 2014.
Statement of Support for Councilmember Fritz introduced a Statement of Support for the Guard and Reserve. This
Guard and Reserve
item will be on the next agenda for approval.

Farmers Market Wine
Tasting
Patty Villa, Farmers Market Manager provided information regarding regulations for wine
tasting at the Farmers Market. The Community & Government Affairs Committee will
consider the issue.
Committee Assignments Deputy Mayor Colorossi provided a list of committee assignments for consideration.
Deputy Mayor Colorossi moved to accept the list of suggested committees. Second by
Councilmember Ford.
Councilmember Penner moved to add a bullet under Land Use and Technologies to
coordinate with the Utilities Committee in facility planning. Second by Councilmember
Birkes. Motion carried.
Main motion, with amendment, carried.
