Hiragana Challenge 2014 The purpose of the Hiragana challenge is to encourage students to learn up to 46 Hiragana symbols (Japanese Script) at home with the use of interactive ICT websites. Benefits: Students will become quicker and more confident at recognising Japanese symbols during class. This will influence their ability to become better readers and writers of the Japanese language. Year Level: What is required: Study load per challenge: P-2 1 x Challenge per term Use a selected App/Activity for 30 min Finish one quiz sheet (One line of symbols) per challenge Use a selected App/Activity for 1 hour Finnish 2 x quiz sheets (two lines of symbols) per challenge Use a selected App/Activity for 2 hours Finnish 3 x quiz sheets (three lines of symbols) per challenge Use a selected App/Activity for 2 hours Finnish 4 x quiz sheets (four lines of symbols) per challenge (see below) 3-4 5 6-7 1 x Challenge per term to learn the whole Hiragana chart 1 x Challenge per term to learn the whole Hiragana chart 2 x Challenges to learn whole Hiragana chart P-2 students are encouraged to complete 8 challenges by the end of year 2 to complete the whole hiragana chart. 3-7 students may attempt the amount of challenges mentioned per term or more if they wish. Once students complete 10 quiz sheet they are not required to attempt any more. Students must return completed quiz sheets to Carroll sensei to mark.
