A celebration of theatre, music and dance, the series of classes will offer students a chance to hear from some of Boston’s most talented artists and learn about the extraordinary work they are doing. Class Schedule: Get to Know the Arts: “Cinderella” at Boston Ballet In this class, Jonathan McPhee, Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Boston Ballet, one of the leading dance companies in the world, will lead an exclusive pre-performance exploration of the company’s adaptation of “Cinderella.” The class will discuss the music and history of this enchanting classic featuring brilliant choreography by Sir Frederick Ashton and a delightful score by Sergei Prokofiev at the Boston Opera House. Following the talk students will take their seats to enjoy the spectacular performance. Class is held Wednesday, March 19th, 2014, at Boston Opera House, 1 session from 6:00PM – 10:00PM. $75 for members and non-members. Get to Know the Arts: “Rigoletto” at Boston Lyric Opera Students are invited to join Nicolas Russell, Boston Lyric Opera’s Director of Artistic Operations, for a preperformance discussion of the Italian opera, “Rigoletto.” Russell will speak about everything from how an opera is produced and developed to the days leading up to opening night. In addition, students will enjoy complimentary champagne and light hors d'oeuvres. After the class discussion, students will walk to the Shubert Theatre and attend a moving opera performance. Class is held Friday, March 21st, 2014, at the BCAE and Shubert Theatre, 1 session from 6:00PM – 10:00PM. $75 for members and non-members. Get to Know the Arts: “The Seagull” at The Huntington Theatre Company In this class, students will explore The Huntington Theatre Company’s production of Anton Checkov’s “The Seagull." Before the curtain rises, Huntington Production Manager Todd Williams will take students on an exclusive backstage tour of the theatre's extensive scene, paint and costume shops. The conversation will continue over some wine and cheese in the Huntington Circle Lounge before taking a seat for the breathtaking performance from Director Maria Aitkin and featuring celebrated actress Kate Burton. Class is held Wednesday, April 2nd, 2014, at BU Theatre, 1 session from 6:00PM – 10:00PM. $75 for members and non-members.
