SARDAR RAJA COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING ALANGULAM, TIRUNELVELI ANNUAL REPORT 2013-2014 It is a great pleasure and privilege for me to present the Annual Report of Sardar Raja College of Engineering for the academic year 2013-2014. I. GENERAL The Sardar Raja College of Engineering (SRCE) came in to existence in the year 2000 by the side of Tenkasi - Tirunelveli Highway on a Sprawling Campus of more than 75 acres under the leadership of a great Educational Visionary Sardar Dr.S.A.Raja, Founder Chairman of Rajas colleges. Er.A.Jesus Raja, Chairman of Jesus Group of Organization is the Chairman of our college. The college has been progressing well under his dynamic leadership. Under his Chairmanship, SRCE has briskly and bravely crossed many miles and has achieved a lot in these 14 years. The college was started with three UG courses in engineering disciplines namely Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering. Two more UG courses, Civil Engineering and Electrical & Electronics Engineering were started in the year 2002 and 2006 respectively. Three PG courses M.E - Applied Electronics, M.E - Computer Science & Engineering and MCA were started in the year 2009. Another two PG courses M.E - Structural Engineering and M.E - Power Systems Engineering were started in the year 2010. M.E - Manufacturing Engineering was started in the year 2011 and two more PG courses M.E - Communication & Networking and M.E - VLSI Design and also an increase in intake in B.E - Mechanical Engineering were started in the year 2012. As on today, the college has 1329 students in its roll. II. LIBRARY The college has well-stacked library named as Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam Library with more than 36,000 volumes of books on various engineering disciplines and humanities & science. Our library has continuous subscription to Del-net membership since 2003 and for that high configuration systems were allotted. Also we are subscribing to IEEE journals. Now the library has been changed as e-library and it is functioning 12 x 7. III. COMPUTER FACILITY The College has around 500 computers with internet connection. College is providing 24 hour internet facility to the students through BSNL leased line with a speed of 8Mbps using optical fiber cables. Additionally a centralized computer centre is functioning for the students’ usage from 8am to 8 pm. IV.
