Marketing Personnel/Office Administrator identifies main number for newspaper and/or TV
station on media outlet website.
To identify the best contact person, call the main phone number and inquire who might be
interested in news about a new medical technology available in your area.
We also suggest contacting reporters who have covered local medical stories in the past.
Leverage the template pitch email below to introduce the PROPEL technology to the media
outlet.
If the media outlet is interested in a TV newscast, they often opt to include a portion of the
PROPEL animation (included within this toolkit). Additionally, having a patient who can speak
about his/her experiences is often of interest to news stations.
Please feel free to contact Marielena Smith (msmith@interesectENT.com) with any questions.

Subject: Chronic sinus sufferers have a new weapon in [city]
Dear [reporter]:
For many people, it can seem like cold and allergy season lasts an eternity. Chronic sinusitis affects one
in seven adults, and sufferers are often truly miserable, with intense facial pain and nasal
congestion, loss of smell and taste, headache, fatigue, and even depression. A Harvard study comparing
the impact of chronic sinusitis with that of other chronic illnesses — including heart failure, back pain,
and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease —found that sinusitis sufferers reported the highest levels of
pain and the lowest levels of social functioning, and significant problems with work, energy, and mental
health1.
I wanted to let you know about a breakthrough new medical device available now in [city] for people
suffering from chronic sinusitis — PROPEL (www.PROPELOPENS.com).
I have recently began treating my patients with PROPEL with highly positive results. [include brief
patient story example]
Sinus surgery used to be a last resort, with results that often didn’t last, leading to revision surgeries in
approximately one in four patients. But the advent of PROPEL has made surgery a much more attractive
option. Inserted following the procedure, the spring-like implant expands to prop open the sinus and
gradually delivers an advanced steroid with anti-inflammatory properties directly to the sinus lining,
where it's needed most, and then dissolves into the body. The result is improved surgical outcomes by
reducing post-operative inflammation and scarring, reducing the need for additional surgical procedures
as well as oral steroids, and their potential side effects2.
I am happy to tell you more, and can connect you with patients who have been treated with
PROPEL. I’ve also included an animation, which can be viewed at www.PROPELOPENS.com.
I look forward to hearing from you.
