Climate Change & Rogue Consequences (No Points!)
Alan Journet’s OLLI Course, Fall Term 2015: Exploratory Questionnaire
Please identify yourself if you wish but also please omit your name if you’d prefer.
1- What do you understand to be the primary cause of climate change (= global warming)?
2- How do you understand this causal factor/agent/process results in climate change?
3- (a) Imagine a hot and sunny summer day. You hold your hand up to the sun. What do you feel,
and why?
4- (b) On such a hot day, would you wear white or black? Why?
5- On the same hot and sunny day you find yourself walking outside with bare feet. Where would
you prefer to walk (on grass or pavement), and why?
6- According to current climate science theory, which of the following is the dominant cause for
the current warming of our atmosphere?
a) Incoming heat from the sun is trapped by atmospheric gases,
b) Heat radiating from the Earth outwards is trapped by atmospheric gases,
c) Heat produced by human industrial/commercial activity is trapped by atmospheric gases,
d) Heat escaping from the Earth’s core (geothermal) is trapped by atmospheric gases,
e) Natural factors beyond our control are heating the atmospheric gases.
