2013 Dave McCall Southwest Shootout Results summary This was the 20th consecutive year for the tournament, a milestone that could only be attained through the players, new and old, that have supported us through the years. With the largest turnout in four years, this years’ Southwest Shootout Lefty-Partner tournament was fun and challenging. During this Wednesday-Friday event Thursday tested one’s grit with temperatures in the low fifties and winds up to 20 mph. But all survived to finish the tournament with a good weather day. Wednesday started with scramble format and Jason Pena and partner Nick Silva fired a 62 and a four stroke lead over Jim Dalton and Scott Mraule. With modified alternate shot on the second day, things got interesting with Don Lightburn and partner Monty Mills shooting even par and pulling within two strokes of the first day leaders. Going head-to-head on best ball day Pena/Silva and Lightburn/Mills, both shot 3-under with the team of Pena and Silva holding the guns of the Low Gross champions. Jim Dalton and new partner Scott Mraule beat out the team of Carl Pearson and Bobby Armijo by one stroke to gain Low Net honors (Carl has a story for that one if you get a chance to talk to him). Thanks to all that participated and hope to see you and some more new faces next year.
