POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for developing and marketing a competitive offering of classes that meet the ever
changing needs of the community including online and classroom training for individuals and business and industry with
minimal supervision. Manage daily operations for Community Education creating an atmosphere of effective, efficient,
friendly and reliable service, providing an easy, accessible, credible resource.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: (A comparable amount of training, education or experience
may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.) Completion of Bachelor’s Degree; two years related work experience
required.
ESSENTIAL TASKS: Employee must be able to perform the following essential functions to the satisfaction of the
employee’s supervisor:
 Serve as course manager for all community education classes including classroom and online offerings. Course
manager includes all aspects of developing and overseeing a course from idea to completion. This includes, but is
not limited to recruiting instructors, marketing classes, etc.
 Oversee course development in Salesforce including identifying system enhancements, developing reports and
queries and training others.
 Prepare reports on department activities and projects, especially those related to fiscal matters.
 Serves as primary contact for individuals earning CEUs from East Central College and expand CEU offerings.
 Develop and monitor program budget in conjunction with Executive Director includes daily management of course
and department budget to ensure fiscal success.
 Plan, organize and administer marketing efforts in coordination with Director of Public Relations including
preparation of three session booklets each year, other print advertising, online and email outreach efforts. Includes
development of annual printing plan (dates and content) and coordination with on campus partners including
registration, facilities and public relations according to timeline. Serves as course manager for all community
education classes and summer camps.
 Collaborate with academic partners in launching new classes and work with faculty to develop new courses when
there is a corresponding academic offering.
 Work with local area career centers and other organizations to offer programs eligible for reimbursement for
dislocated workers, low income families, vocational rehab, etc. and facilitating referrals and procedural updates.
 Researches new course offerings to identify local demand/interest, including workforce
 Coordinate work for student workers.
General
 Participate as an active member of the Center for Workforce Development and support day to day operations
utilizing Salesforce
 Assist with the promotion of all Center for Workforce Development services and offerings.
 Assist in fielding visitors, phone calls and email by responding or forwarding appropriately
 Maintain up to date calendar for daily work activities and class schedule
 Maintain effective filing system to appropriately document records for students, classes and instructor
 Accurately enroll students in Community Education classes in a timely manner and collect and process payment
 Provide assistance to instructors as needed








Assist with facilities and supply management as needed including monitoring equipment and supplies, securing
facilities and coordinating room reservations
Prepare reports, statistical data, correspondence and other materials related to responsibilities assigned. Including
letters, brochures, spreadsheets, mailings, presentations, etc.
Initiate and process forms such as purchase orders, requisitions, printing requests, facilities work orders; Web Help
Desk requests; reimbursement vouchers, etc.
Perform assigned responsibilities, duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and
standards in a safe manner and with minimal supervision.
Establish and maintain excellent working relationships with peers and clients.
Assist with departmental and site events (orientations, college open house events, etc.) and other special projects,
as requested which may require temporary adjustment of hours including nights and weekends
Actively engage and participate in professional organizations related to continuing education attending conferences
and training for continuous improvement and sustainability.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
 College: Knowledge of college policies, procedures, and practices with the ability to answer work related questions,
and/or interpret and apply these guidelines correctly in various situations; thorough knowledge of all ECC programs
and services; knowledge of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA); ability to handle confidential
material judiciously; perform job duties in a safe and efficient manner; well organized and self-disciplined; ability to
work independently and in a team environment; ability to interpret and enforce academic policy and procedures
under wide variety of circumstances.

Department: Ability to work with minimal supervision; highly attentive to detail; experience in marketing and
advertising; knowledge of department policies, procedures, and practices with the ability to find solutions to
problems and prioritize work, answer work related questions; and/or interpret and apply these guidelines correctly
in various situations; knowledge of general office procedures including finance and budgeting procedures; the
capacity to apply a broad understanding of program, organization, system and/or student needs to resolve highly
complex problems; identify new services and opportunities for process improvement; extremely organized and
detail oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities at the same time.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Excellent written and oral communication skills; ability to establish and maintain positive
working relationships with other employees; ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people, including
students, employees, faculty, and the general public; effective telephone communication skills; strong customer service
orientation; ability to manage interpersonal conflict situations requiring tact, diplomacy and discretion; positive attitude;
ability to interact effectively with diverse student populations and a wide variety of coworkers; ability to multitask,
solution oriented; detail-oriented; critical thinking skills, ability to read, understand and correctly apply rules and
regulations; ability to work in a fast paced environment while maintaining a friendly and courteous manner.
EQUIPMENT AND SOFTWARE: Current information technology used by the college and department, including but not
limited to, Microsoft Office, Outlook, Datatel, ImageNow, Salesforce, QuickBooks, etc.; use of technical computer
applications, e.g. FAFSA; use office machines such as telephones, fax machines, copiers or calculators; effective
keyboarding skills; must be highly computer literate.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The conditions herein are representative of those that must be
met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Environment: Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting with frequent interruptions and distractions;
extended periods of time viewing computer monitor.

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit
for prolonged periods of time; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 10 lbs; to operate office equipment requiring
repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; and to verbally
communicate to exchange information.

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.
