I understand a secondhand metal dealer shall not buy or sell regulated material without a valid registration issued by the department and that I am responsible for renewing the certification prior to the three-year expiration, in compliance with NMSA 1978 57-30-2.1 to 2.2. I affirm that I am in compliance with all federal requirements for scrap metal dealers, including maintaining storm water permits as required by NMSA 1978 57-30-2.3(A)(2). I have registered with the metal theft alert system at www.scraptheftalert.com and will keep all employees apprised of alerts, in compliance with NMSA 1978 57-30-2.3(A)(3) and (A)(4). I understand stolen or unlawfully obtained regulated materials shall not be removed from the dealer’s premises and shall be reported to the local law enforcement agency with 24 hours under NMSA 1978 57-30-2.3(B). I understand no restricted transactions shall be made without written documentation that the seller is the rightful owner or has permission from the rightful owner to prove the material was lawfully obtained, in compliance with NMSA 1978 57-30-2.4(A). The certificate must be posted in the business of operation in a conspicuous place. If you have multiple locations, the original certificate must be posted at your primary location and certified copies furnished by the Department must be posted at each of your other locations. Your certification will be valid for three years from the date of issuance, unless the registration is suspended or revoked.
