Jewish Cultural Endowment Call for Proposals MEMORANDUM MEMO TO: Boston University Faculty and Staff FROM: Boston University Jewish Cultural Endowment (JCE) at Boston University DATE:Sept 8, 2014 Dear Boston University Faculty and Staff, This letter serves as a call for grant proposals by the Boston University Jewish Cultural Endowment (JCE). The Boston University Jewish Cultural Endowment supports Jewish cultural programs at the University. In past years, the JCE has funded scholarly, lectures, conferences, theatre and dance performances, concerts, literary events, curricular enrichment, and the visual arts. Our mission is to foster an appreciation of Jewish culture in all its richness and diversity. We invite submissions from the BU Hillel community, the Elie Wiesel Center for Judaic Studies, BU faculty, students or staff and other organizations and personages on campus significantly involved in the study and/or production of Jewish culture. The following are submission and acceptance guidelines for all proposals: 1. All JCE-funded projects must take place on the Boston University campus. 2. There are three submission deadlines each year. Deadlines for 20142015 are October 1st, 2014 February 1st, 2015 May 1st, 2015 All proposals will be discussed and voted on by the JCE steering committee within two weeks of their submission. 3. No last minute proposals will be considered, except under extraordinary circumstances. 4. Our policy is to limit awards to $10K. Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis. For larger proposals, the JCE is inclined to award partial funding, especially when other sources of funds have been investigated. 5. Every proposal must include a detailed, itemized budget. 6. All receipts must be submitted after the project or event is completed, in accordance with Boston University policy. Unused allocated money will revert back to the JCE. Receipts must be submitted no later than 30 days of the completion of the event being funded. Original receipts are required. 7. A detailed publicity plan of action must be submitted a minimum of 6 weeks prior to the event for approval from the board. This marketing plan must be implemented at least 4 weeks prior to the event. Publicity should include flyers to departments, online advertising and, if appropriate, printed ads. 8. All publicity material must be emailed (NO HARD COPIES) to JCE staff administrator, jcendowment@gmail.comat the time they are sent out. Files may be sent in Word, PDF, or JPEG format. 9. All publicity material must include JCE sponsorship information/credit. 10. Approved grants must be used within 18 months. If they are not, the applicant must reapply for funding. If these guidelines are not met by the grantee, the JCE will not be able to provide financial support for any part of the program.
