Jewish Cultural Endowment Call for Proposals
MEMORANDUM
MEMO TO: Boston University Faculty and Staff
FROM: Boston University Jewish Cultural Endowment (JCE) at Boston
University
DATE:Sept 8, 2014
Dear Boston University Faculty and Staff,
This letter serves as a call for grant proposals by the Boston University
Jewish Cultural Endowment (JCE). The Boston University Jewish Cultural
Endowment supports Jewish cultural programs at the University. In past
years, the JCE has funded scholarly, lectures, conferences, theatre and
dance performances, concerts, literary events, curricular enrichment, and the
visual arts. Our mission is to foster an appreciation of Jewish culture in all its
richness and diversity.
We invite submissions from the BU Hillel community, the Elie Wiesel Center
for Judaic Studies, BU faculty, students or staff and other organizations and
personages on campus significantly involved in the study and/or production
of Jewish culture.
The following are submission and acceptance guidelines for all proposals:
1. All JCE-funded projects must take place on the Boston University
campus.
2. There are three submission deadlines each year. Deadlines for 20142015 are
October 1st, 2014
February 1st, 2015
May 1st, 2015
All proposals will be discussed and voted on by the JCE steering
committee within two weeks of their submission.
3. No last minute proposals will be considered, except under extraordinary
circumstances.
4. Our policy is to limit awards to $10K. Exceptions will be considered on a
case-by-case basis. For larger proposals, the JCE is inclined to award
partial funding, especially when other sources of funds have been
investigated.
5. Every proposal must include a detailed, itemized budget.
6. All receipts must be submitted after the project or event is completed, in
accordance with Boston University policy. Unused allocated money will
revert back to the JCE. Receipts must be submitted no later than 30
days of the completion of the event being funded. Original receipts are
required.
7. A detailed publicity plan of action must be submitted a minimum of 6
weeks prior to the event for approval from the board. This marketing
plan must be implemented at least 4 weeks prior to the event. Publicity
should include flyers to departments, online advertising and, if
appropriate, printed ads.
8. All publicity material must be emailed (NO HARD COPIES) to JCE staff
administrator, jcendowment@gmail.comat the time they are sent
out. Files may be sent in Word, PDF, or JPEG format.
9. All publicity material must include JCE sponsorship information/credit.
10. Approved grants must be used within 18 months. If they are not, the
applicant must reapply for funding.
If these guidelines are not met by the grantee, the JCE will not be able to
provide financial support for any part of the program.
Please help us to get the word out by forwarding this call for proposals as
you see fit. Proposals and questions may be directed to Diane Bensel, JCE
Staff Administrator, at jcendowment@gmail.com.
