results to improve, but proud to say we did better than last year
 Chris discussed some interesting school projects
 Fall sports are wrapping up
 Academic awards night
 25th anniversary:
o Alumni and current students helped organize
o Mass was very impactful
o Bishop spoke about family and what it takes to build a strong family
o Invited all former program heads
o Saturday – volunteer childcare, musical acts, big football games, food trucks, great

Council projects updates:
 25th Anniversary - debrief
Tom
 Pathways
Chris
 PRO Grant
Lisa M.
 Uniform Fundraiser

Pathways:
o Tom updated us on his search for a keynote speaker
 Chris Hadfield has a 2 year waiting list
 David Chilton – costs $20k, but would donate half back, spring works best for
him, would need to be a larger event, would need to raise $10k through
inviting high schools and going to Catholic schools foundation
o Maybe we give it a Catholic focus and keep it smaller with Rez, grads of Catholic
system as speakers/panelists
o A possibility is Rob Carly who is a St. Jerome’s grad, successful composer/arranger
for popular TV shows, great career in entertainment, would have a lot to say about the
music/entertainment career
o Definitely needs to be a spring event
o Bob Carlin will present to the Rez school committee
o Taunya suggested reaching out to alumni that attended 25th to see if they’d be
K77001\EDC_LAW\ 1390408\1
interested
General consensus on Council is to keep it local and bring in different people
Perhaps we need to advertise more and ensure the “purpose” it clear and the audience
Probably can’t do both – Chilton and the local entrepreneurs
To obtain guest speakers/panelists can pick brains of teachers, Board, Council
members – folks who did a gap year, folks who switched from university to college
o ACTION – committee will take this Council feedback and combine with Bob Carlin’s
feedback from guidance
Pro Grant:
o April 20th – Lisa mentioned that a doctor is coming for the vision/learning awareness
event, mapping out a partnership with other schools, meeting on Wednesday, will
bring back more info
Uniform Fundraiser:
o Someone asked if there is a reminder to donate throughout the year?
o Yes, students can come throughout the year if they out-grow their clothes
o Really need grade 9/10 uniforms since the others are being phased out
o ACTION – send a synervoice (Marianna) reminder
