General items
-Full uniform including troop hat and neckerchief, Scout pants or green pants. Jeans or sweat pants are
not appropriate.
WE TRAVEL IN FULL UNIFORM. If you don't have it on or with you when we meet to leave, you will put
it on even if you have to go home to get it.
-Signed permission slip,
-Rain gear. Sweatshirts are not rain gear. Ponchos are not very effective long term in the wind and rain.
A rain suit of a jacket and pants are best.
- Water bottle At least one Nalgene or similar, 1 liter reuseable, not single use, disposable bottles. They
don't last. Make sure it is full when you leave home.
-Mess Kit including mug, plate/bowl, knife, fork & spoon. Labeled with your initials or name.
-Sleeping bag, A sleeping bag rated to your comfort.
-Sleeping pad (for hard ground)
-Tarp for inside your tent, underneath all of your gear.
-Hiking Boots, to keep your feet dry in wet grass/mud.
-A spare pair of shoes is always a good thing.
-Several pairs of socks. Smartwool or similar is better than cotton for warmth and dryness. I bring at
minimum a pair per day, plus a spare. Non cotton socks will dry out over night too.
-Pants. Nylon Scout pants or similar are great. They pack lighter and dry faster than cotton jeans. I
usually bring a pair per day, though I rarely wear the second pair, but I'm not a boy so that means I try
not to fall down or get dirty. Pack as many as you plan to get dirty.
-Shirts. I like polyester blends over cotton. Once again, they keep you dryer and dry quickly if wet. I
bring a tee shirt per day, plus a spare.
-Sweat shirts/fleeces. Just in case..
-Sleeping clothes. We all know to change out of all of your clothes before going to bed.
-Toiletries. Soap, Tooth brush and tooth paste. Use them!!!!
-Scout handbook. You never know when you'll need it or can get something signed off.
-Flashlight. Headlights are great while setting up the tent and hiking at night. A spare light is good too.
Have the flashlight where you can get to quickly. In your pocket is best!
-Personal First aid kit.
What not to bring.
-Knife, unless you have earned and are carrying your Totem' Chip card.
-Electronics. They will not be allowed in camp.
-Cell phones. The adults will have phones if somebody needs to call home. Bringing a phone means a
chance of loosing a phone, and also brings all kinds of electronic distractions not allowed in camp.
What do you bring your gear in? Not trash bags. Get a duffel bag, back pack, stuff sack, etc. Make sure
your sleeping bag is not unprotected. Your sleeping bag must be inside something, not a trash bag. A
compression sack is the best idea.
Bring a small day pack to carry your book, water bottle, rain gear, snacks, first aid kit, flash light with you
wherever you go.
Other supplies:

Pen/pencil.
