2. Analyze the affixation order of bound morphemes in the following words. Also justify your analysis.

3. The suffix ‘-able’ can affix to verbs to produce adjectives: doable; revisable; lockable. The prefix ‘un-’
occurs with both adjectives and verbs: unhappy, untie; lock. As a result, words such as unlockable can have
two different derivations. Each derivation has a different meaning as shown in the following sentences:
a. The door is unlockable, That’s why you cannot get it locked.
b. The door is unlockable, you should be able to open it without any trouble.
Explain the ambiguity of ‘unlockable’ by describing the two different affixation orders. Draw two tree
diagrams each of which represents each of the meanings. That is you have to indicate which tree represents
which meaning (5 points).
4. Consider the ing-suffixes in the following sentences and answer the questions that follow.
