 FIRST AND SECOND TERM
STRATEGIES BEFORE READING


1. Cover observation and description of the picture: Students will do a collective and oral

2. Brief conversation about the publisher, Author and illustrator, the price and type of text.

4. Predictions using the title, front cover of the book and big poster of the cover. Speaking skills

6. The students will draw in their notebooks the book cover; write the important names such as:
author’s, illustrator’s and publisher’s name.
The teacher will check the predictions the Students did and they will write the correction of their


SUPER ESTRUCTURA
1. Exploring the first book pages and describing how the book is designed. Speaking SKILLs
2. Reading and analyzing the dedication paragraph. Listening skills. Speaking SKILLs
3. Reading the whole book (skimming the book) and defining new words in context to get their
meaning. Speaking SKILLs/ListeningSKILLs
4. Teachers will give students the YouTube page for the book, so that they can explore and
distinguish the story at home/ LISTENING SKILLS
5. Analyzing and discussing the main parts: beginning-middle –ending: children will trace or divide
these three parts in their books; they will color each part of the book in order to distinguish the
parts. Speaking SKILLs/Listening skills
6.Students will fill in a graphic organizer” web” in the web quest in Be-learning about the structure
of the story :
 Beginning : (characters ,place and description of the situation)
 Middle: (Description of the problem)
 Ending: (description of attempt of solution and solution)

1. Students will work in their web quests to see and listen to a video about the New York
public library. Ask kids to find the relationship between this library with the one in the book.

1.Sequencing the main events put the pictures in the right order and match them to the

2. Teachers will give the students a picture of the of the story with a prompt about the
importance of rules, they will write about it .This activity will be placed in the portfolio and also
the corrections. WRITING SKILL
3.Art craft: paper plate mask and dramatize some parts of the story. oral skill /COMPREHENSION
