APOSTLESHIP OF THE SEA. This Sunday is SEA SUNDAY and Anne McLaren, the
Chaplain at Hull will make an appeal at all Masses, so there will be a Second Collection for
Them. Without them we would not have most of the items we buy in the shops. There are
envelopes available if you wish to gift aid your donation, and please remember all seafarers in
your prayers.

Assisted Dying Bill. Please write to a member of the House of Lords.
The bill to legalise assisted dying – meaning assisted suicide –will be debated in the House of
Lords on July 18. There will be a free vote,because it is not Government legislation. If passed,
this would place vulnerable people at serious risk. Especially if you have direct experience of
caring for a dying person, either as a family member or as a health care professional, please

We extend our sympathy and the promise of our prayers to Fr. Billy Steele, whose sister,
Jean Longhorne has died. Jean worshipped at St Joseph’s from 1950 – 1971.

The acclaimed Scunthorpe Male Voice Choir will once again perform at the Sacred Heart
Church. This is our joint Parish event, but as before tickets will be open to all outside our
congregation. The concert will take place at 7pm. Tickets are £8 (adults) £5 concessions and
child. Including refreshments. Tickets will be available nearer the time in both Churches after
weekend Masses. Alternatively from California Gardens, Boothferry Rd, Howden or
Chappelow’s newsagent, Market Place, Howden. We will be holding a Raffle at the concert
and would welcome donations of Prizes. Many thanks.
There will be a farewell Mass for Diane Marten in Church on Monday July 14 at 10.45
And a leavers Mass in Church on Wednesday July 16th at 10am. The School closes for the
Summer Holidays on Friday July 18th
Since so many of our Polish brethren attend St Joseph’s we intend to have the First & Second
Readings in Polish every third Sunday of the month. The Responsorial Psalm will still be read
by the reader on the rota for that day.

The Offertory for last week was £ 539.42
We are asking for a volunteer to guide the children’s liturgy at St Joseph’s at the Saturday and
Sunday Masses. Pat Ellis did this for a number of years and the children brought up a candle
at the beginning of Mass to light for their Liturgy.
Marc Homsey will be ordained to the Priesthood at St Anne’s Cathedral on July 26th at 12noon
