“A DAY IN THE LIFE OF…” MIDDLE AGES PROJECT Due: ___________________ In this activity, you will be researching and developing a presentation on a job from the Middle Ages. This project has three components: 1. Research/Written 2. Oral Presentation 3. Visual Aid/Costume Part 1: Research/Written (25 points) Research the job from the Middle Ages that you drew (or picked). Use the list below as a guide for your research and compile into a typed description about your job. This paper should include paragraphs and be well organized as you detail the following: Description of job Where was this job performed? Daily responsibilities (lifestyle) of a person performing this job Hours worked in a day/week What items were needed to perform this job? Does this job still exist today? If so, where? If not, why? Type of house/dwelling a person doing this job might have lived in Your rubric will include the following: 1. Items included (above) in your paper 2. Conventions (complete sentences, paragraphs, punctuation, etc.) 3. Typed PART 2: ORAL PRESENTATION (15 points) To wrap up our project, we will be celebrating with a time of sharing during a mock Medieval celebration. During this time, you will give a 1-2 minute description of your job (while in character). In this presentation, you will describe many of the points and descriptions that you included in your paper. You will need to condense this into at least a minute and no longer than 2 minutes (you may want to practice this presentation and timing yourself as well). You can have notes on notecards, but DO NOT READ from them. Your rubric for the presentation will include: 1. Volume (speak loud and clear) 2. Description and details of job/life (without reading from a notecard) 3. Eye contact 4. Pacing (speed of delivery) PART 3: VISUAL AID/COSTUME (10 points) During your presentation, you will need to have a visual aid and be dressed as if you were performing your job today. The visual aid should be something you would need to perform this job OR something you produce from doing your job. You will need to dress as this person would while doing his/her job. Remember that most jobs were performed by peasants. Examples were given in class. Your rubric for the visual aid/costume will include: 1. Connection to job 2. Costume “A DAY IN THE LIFE OF…” RUBRIC Name: ___________________________________ Block: ________________ PART 1: RESEARCH/WRITTEN PAPER Details from research: Description of job Where was this job performed?
