RRU Application Process
In order to complete your application you will need to submit your application form, applicable fees and all of the
following supporting documents according to the program specific requirements.
International students are required to obtain a study permit through Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) for all
programs longer than 6 months in duration. In order to allow yourself enough time to obtain a study permit, please be
sure to check processing times for your country at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/temp/students.asp.
We encourage you to complete your RRU application at least 6-8 weeks prior to your study permit application deadline.
Only complete applications will be reviewed and adjudicated for admission.
Supporting Documents to Complete Your Application
1) ACADEMIC DOCUMENTS FROM INDIA
HOW TO SUBMIT
1a) Photocopies of all final or provisional degree certificates issued by the
degree granting institution. Example: Bachelor, Master, Master of
Philosophy, Postgraduate Diploma
Please submit a clear photocopy or electronic copy of degree
certificates to RRU International Admissions.
1b) All individual mark sheets indicating all subjects taken and marks
obtained for all years of higher education/post-secondary study – issued by
the institution responsible for conducting the examinations (university or
autonomous college)
To be considered official:
Please note: College-issued and attested mark sheets will NOT be accepted
unless from an autonomous college. To check whether your college has
autonomous status please see: http://www.ugc.ac.in/page/AutonomousColleges.aspx
All applicants who have completed higher education outside of Canada are
subject to an international credential/transcript evaluation.
Royal Roads University will accept official course-by-course evaluation
reports from any of the following provincially mandated credential
evaluation services across Canada:
o ICES: International Credential Evaluation Service,
BC ("Comprehensive Report")
o IQAS: International Qualifications Assessment Service,
AB ("Specialized Report")
o WES: World Education Services Canada, ON ("Course-by-Course
Report")
o CEFAHQ: Centre d’expertise sur les formations acquises hors du
Quebec, QC ("Evaluation Comparative Report")
Royal Roads University also provides the international credential/transcript
evaluation service for a fee of $110 (subject to change). Copies of this
internal evaluation are not provided to the applicant.
Request for all mark sheets to be sent directly to RRU International
Admissions by the institution responsible for conducting the
examinations
-ORYou may have photocopies of your original mark sheets attested
and dated by the Controller of Examinations or Registrar’s Office
of the issuing institution. Please request for the attested
photocopies to be placed in an official sealed envelope by the
issuing institution. To be considered official, this sealed envelope
must be submitted to RRU International Admissions.
Please note: Mark sheets attested by persons outside the
Controller of Examination or Registrar's Offices, such as individual
professors or external notary publics, are not considered official
and will not be accepted.
-ORIf you are obtaining an international credential evaluation from one
of our provincially mandated credential evaluation services you
may submit clear photocopies or electronic copies of your
academic documents to RRU International Admissions.
Please arrange to have the official comprehensive credential
evaluation report sent directly to RRU International Admissions
from the credential evaluation provider.
2) PROOF OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

For IELTS or University of Cambridge English Examinations please
submit a clear photocopy or electronic copy of your score reports to
RRU International Admissions.
For all other tests of English proficiency, please arrange for an
official copy to be sent directly from the testing center to RRU
International Admissions.

3) STATEMENT OF INTENT/PERSONAL STATEMENT

Be sure to check if the program you are applying to requires a statement of
intent/personal statement at: http://www.royalroads.ca/prospectivestudents/program-specific-admission
Please submit a clear printed copy or electronic copy to RRU
International Admissions.
Please note: When writing your statement it is important to be sure to
address all of the questions, provide the information requested and follow
the format suggested in program specific admission requirements. If there is
any other information that you feel might be of interest or relevance to your
application, please include it in your statement.
It is also important to be sure the statement expresses your own ideas and
is written in your own words. Statements/phrases taken from sample letters
found online or other sources are not acceptable and could result in an
automatic denial of your application.
Lastly, be sure to proofread your statement carefully to catch any errors or
spelling mistakes before submitting.
4) LETTERS OF REFERENCE

Be sure to check if the program you are applying to requires letters of
reference at: http://www.royalroads.ca/prospective-students/programspecific-admission
To be considered official:
You can submit your original printed and signed letters of reference
in hard copy to RRU International Admissions.
Please note: When requesting reference letters please be sure to ask your
referees to comment on all of the aspects listed in the program specific
admission requirements.

To be considered valid, letters of reference must be:
o
specific to the RRU program you have applied to
o
dated within six months of application
o
signed by the author and include at least one contact number
and email address.
Your referees can also submit the letters of reference directly to
RRU International Admission by:
o
Mail/Courier
o
Fax
o
Email: from a valid institutional or corporate email
domain only; public domain addresses such as Hotmail,
Gmail, Yahoo, etc. cannot be accepted
5) DETAILED RESUME

Please submit a clear printed copy or electronic copy to RRU
International Admissions.
Please note:
A detailed, or structured resume is one that provides us with your
comprehensive professional profile. Provide as much information as possible
and be sure to include the information requested in the program specific
admission requirements.

Applicants with documents which are in a language other than English must submit official documents in the original language
as well as notarized word for word English translations.
In many cases we can begin an assessment of applications based on unofficial documents; however, in these cases only, if
accepted into the program, only conditional letters of acceptance will be issued. RRU cannot reissue an unconditional
letter of acceptance once a conditional letter has previously been issued.
