BODIES MODULAR DESIGN
1. DRAIN BODIES
a. The majority of floor drains, roof drains and cleanouts that are sold incorporate
the use of three different bodies. The A1, A2, and A3 bodies. We will take a look
at the design and common applications of these three bodies and all the
remaining styles that are offered.

pedestrian or heavy duty traffic loads and low flow rates.
A. Connection sizes and types are shown on page 67 of the price book
a) Check Accountmate for the type of connections that are available in
stainless steel bodies.
i. (-28) is a 304 stainless steel body.
ii. (-29) is a 316 stainless steel body.
B. Has integrated 4” NPSM female threads on top of the body to accept common
top assemblies.

E. Available with a 90° connections
a) 2”, 3” and 4” in No-Hub (NH) and Threaded (T) connections.
b) 2" threaded connection uses a 2" to 3" adapter (MI-800-2) installed in the
threaded connection of a 3" body.
A1 BODY VARIANCES
1. A1-4X body does not have the 4" NPSM threads on the body. The body is supplied with
an A1-C2 installed for the 4" NPSM thread connections
A. The larger opening is needed on the top of the body for the 4" inside caulk
(X) connection.
B. Image shown A1-C2 installed.

CHAPTER 3
2. A1-4P body has a larger diameter hole pattern for the underdeck clamp because of the4"
push on (P) outlet connection size. Because of this an A1-C3-4PO is needed for and
underdeck clamp.
3. A1-5T body does not have tapped holes for an underdeck clamp. An underdeck clamp
cannot be used because of this.

CHAPTER 3
4. A1-5X body does not have the 4" NPSM threads on the body. The body is supplied with an
A1-C2 installed for the 4" NPSM thread connections. Body does not have a flange that
extends beyond the sump of the body. There is not any mounting locations for an
underdeck clamp. An underdeck clamp cannot be used on this body.
A. The larger opening is needed on the top of the body for the 4" inside caulk
(X) connection.
B. Image shown without A1-C2 installed.
5. A1-6NH body has a very small flange and does not have any underdeck clamp mounting locations.
An underdeck clamp cannot be used on this body.

CHAPTER 3
A2 BODY
1. Most commonly used in floor and roof drains where Extra Heavy Duty and Special Duty load
rating and high flow rates are required.
A. See connection types and sizes on page 67 of the price book.
a) Check Accountmate for the type of connections that are available.
B. Has a 6” deep sump.
C. Available with trap seal primer connection (-7)
D. PVC (-30) and ABS (-31) bodies are available in 2", 3" and 4" sizes.
a) An A6T-PB, A3-PG and A1 body are used for PVC (-30) and ABS (-31)
connections.
E. Available with a 90° connections
a) 2”, 3” and 4” in No-Hub (NH) and Threaded (T) connections.
i. The threaded sizes use a 4" body with MI-800 adapters.
F. Top assemblies for floor drains are inserted into sump of body.

CHAPTER 3
A3 BODY
1. Most commonly used in floor and roof drains where Extra Heavy Duty and Special Duty load
rating and low flow rates are required with a deeper sump than the A2 body.
A. See connection types and sizes on page 67 of the price book.
B. Top flange has the same design as the A2 body.
C. Able to use the same accessories as the A2 body.
D. Has a 12” deep sump.
E. Is a transition body assembly.
a) Transition body assemblies have an A1 body and A3-PG that is installed on
the bottom of the assembly.
b) This allows any connection type and size to be used that is available on the
A1 body.
i. It is not recommended to use any larger than 4” with transition body
assemblies because the transition connection is 4”.
ii. Body heights on page 67 are the entire height, including the A3 and A1
body.
