Parents, With exactly one week until our 4th Grade Musical I wanted to take a moment to hopefully clear up some details surrounding the program. First, Let me say that students are all working very hard and this show should be wonderful! We will be having two performances of Magic Treehouse Knight at Dawn: *Thursday, May 14th 1st show - 1:30pm – For school and Family (Must check in at the office) (Arrival for Characters 6:30) 2nd Show 7pm For Parents, Family, Friends, Community I will have resources online at our music webpage Tibbals Teachers (Will Moses) including: Cd tracks to practice, lyrics page, pictures of costume ideas. **Costumes are the responsibility of the individual characters and need to be ready to go for our Dress Rehearsal which is: Dress Rehearsal: Wednesday, May, 13th 2:30 – 4:00 pm I have sent some general guidelines that were included in the Directors Guide, but here are some further notes: Base Costume is a tunic This will work for these characters: Commoners, Vagrants, All Guards, 1. Take a piece of fabric 2. Fold it in half (check that it is long enough to cover fully) 3. Cut out a ½ circle for the head at the folded end 4. Tie around the waist with a time period belt 5. Guards accent with a short plastic sword Keenan, Elf, Mustache, Squinty, Red, Oldest, Youngest Vangrants, can all accent this with a solid color of vest or sash to set them apart. Harry (w/ purple belt) Castle Kids: Add a colorful vest or suspenders to the base costume. Suits of Armor / Black Knight – These can be fun and should turn out with each one a little unique 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Find thin pieces of (Cereal Box type) cardboard from grocery items. Shape them to fit / suit arms / legs / breastplate with a pair of scissors Either spraypaint them or use a roll of metallic / black (Black Knight) Duct Tape to cover the armor pieces Hole Punch and tie with yarn strong enough to secure through the show Find a complete a knight helmet template online similar to this: http://www.activityvillage.co.uk/knights-helmet-2 Minstrels: flowing outfit, A dress if possible Earth tones (Browns, Greens, Flowers) Accented with a laurel of flowers for their head that will stay on. Think Fairy (ish) Jester: Old fashion Jester or Clown outfit with Jester hat. Bright colors. Stage Crew, Lights, Sound, Curtain, etc. – wear dark solid colors black if possible. The Duke: Like Royalty. Throne is Royal Purple. A Purple Cape with a crown would do nicely. I have cast two students at each main character part in order to have maximum involvement. Below you will find a list of the students that will perform the character parts in each show to plan to be at their big moment. When they are not playing their main character they will join the cast in auxilliary roles.
