Dear Parents of Woodfill First Grade students, I have finally decided on the costumes for the upcoming first grade musical. I appreciate you creating the costume for your child. Hopefully you can also use this costume in the future as a Halloween costume, etc. Because I feel that making a fish costume, complete with fins and gills will be a difficult task, I have taken some creative liberties and we will go with alternative type costumes for our characters. I think the audience will have fun with these costume choices and it will also make it easier for you to find/make the costume for your child. The costumes will need to be at school on Monday morning March 24 for our dress rehearsal and also school show. The community show will be that evening at 7:00 pm – so save the date on your calendar! Clown Fish/jokester Fish – all dress as clowns Seahorses – all dress as cowboys and have a stick horse to ride Red Snapper fish – wear all red clothing from head to toe Crabs – dress in a Hawaiian outfit or Caribbean outfit) (no swim suits) Sharks – dress as 20’s style gangsters Electric Eels – there are 4 of you that need wear all black from head to toe but we need to connect you with black material and also have battery powered lights or glow sticks attached so you look electric. You need to be able to break apart at the end of your scene and run away in different directions. Great White Shark – wear all white in a gangster style Sword Fish – dress as a soldier guard. Have to have a fake plastic sword. Hammerhead shark – can your hat have toy hammers attached somehow? Blue Shark – can you have a blue outfit that looks like a gangster? Mako Shark – You can play with the idea that you are like the “Macco” car repair company, but in gangster clothing. Zebra Fish – you need to wear an outfit that is all polka dots. Octopus – you need to have 7 legs attached to your outfit Angel Fish – can you dress as an actual angel, with wings/halo Star Fish – can you have stars all over your outfit Tuna Fish – you are always singing so maybe an outfit with music notes all over it. Blow fish – you have asthma. If you can make yourself very puffy or a large suit to look full of air, that would be great. Needle fish – you need to look pointy without really being sharp (we don’t want anyone to get hurt). On the back of this letter are purely suggestions. You do not have to follow the pictures, but if it helps, feel free to duplicate. Please contact me if you have any questions. I trust your family’s judgment when making the costume. www.theatrehouse.com may have some items to assist you with costume accessories.
