ARTE POSTALE An International Visual Exchange 2014–2015 plants of my Country Introduction Visual art allows us to express ourselves in many ways. Through drawings, paintings, and sculpture we can communicate our thoughts and ideas; we can transmit emotions, dreams, aspirations, and experiences. The way we depict the world we live in helps others see it through our eyes, sharing our culture and values. The Arte Postale program provides students from around the world the opportunity to enhance their learning by participating in and enjoying the visual arts. The program is a creative way to start students on the path to greater understanding of their own life and culture, while nurturing their curiosity about cultures in other countries. As students learn about the visual arts and work on art and writing pieces to exchange with a classroom from another country, they will reflect on what culture means to them. The lessons in Arte Postale lead students through the creation of works of art that reflect aspects of their culture. Throughout the implementation of the program, students will learn about cultural customs and practices in other countries. The exchange component of Arte Postale will help students gain insight about another culture, teaching them to respect, value, and celebrate diversity. Arte Postale’s Goals: tudents to further their knowledge and appreciation of their own culture, and learn more about the culture of students in another country. academic and social competencies. in using inclusive teaching methods through arts-based strategies.
