AEA 267 PROFESSIONAL LEARNING and LEADERSHIP NETWORK 1 SCHEDULE FOR 2014- 2015 Go to My 267 and Register for Course #15102 Professional Learning and Leadership Network (PLN)#1 SEPTEMBER 5, 2014 DE Fall Updates All Schools Invited to AEA 267 Professional Learning and Leadership Network 1 (Polycom all three locations) PURPOSE: PLN Cohort 1 is to teach school leaders how to connect the processes for school improvement and to provide practical tools to help implement these processes. Content for PLN 1 will be similar to the current year’s program, with emphasis placed on helping leaders see how Align the Design processes will help them to implement all state initiatives NOTE: Session topics may change based on participants’ needs. Sept 18 Polycom all three locations Ann Mausbach: Blueprint Process Overview: Focus on Analyzing Data for Improvement- Participants will learn how to use data to help them identify areas for improvement. Information on multi-tiered support system will be shared so participants can begin to gather and analyze data in order to help them determine how to develop a process for their school. Oct 16 Polycom all three locations Ann Mausbach: Developing a School Improvement Plan that Results in Action- Participants will learn how to write a clear school improvement plan that includes goals, strategies, action steps and an accompanying professional development plan. Follow up on MTSS will also be addressed. (You will enact a FOCUSED plan) Nov 13 Polycom all three locations Ann Mausbach: Implementing SIP- Participants will learn how to use tools that help to ensure that the SIP and PD plan are resulting in action. Jan 8 Polycom all three locations Ann Mausbach: Effective Professional Learning, Part 1- Participants will learn how to provide the infrastructure for effective PD and how to ensure that PD is making a difference. Feb 12 Polycom all three locations Ann Mausbach: Effective Professional Learning, Part 2- Participants will learn how to start/ improve PLC teams. April 16 Polycom all three locations Ann Mausbach: Monitoring the SIP- Participants will review SIP and PD efforts and discuss how to effectively monitor efforts. In addition to workshop settings, participants will have the opportunity to conduct “cluster visits” where small groups will observe an effective practice in action in order to deepen their understanding of the process. NOTE: Session topics may change based on participants’ needs. If PLN 2 Participants want to attend different days of PLN 1 as a “refresher” they are welcome to in addition to any PLN 2 sessions. Strategies for engaging staff in the development of the SIP will be shared. **Mentor School To Present their infrastructure. Nov 20 Polycom all three locations Mentor School Presents Digging into the work: What are we learning about Iowa Core? How is the work aligned with SIP? (include implications for professional development) What are the formats for the 30-day and extended visits for monitoring implementation? How does the work in the Lab classroom help us identify critical look- fors? How does instructional planning look different than in the past?
