Flooded From Ideas Over the last few years flooding in Wales has become quite a problem for people living in the area of rivers that have a flooding problem; it also has become a big problem for the Pembrokeshire County Council. Flooding is a big problem for businesses and homes surrounding the local rivers, residents could be moved out of their homes and leave everything of theirs in the flooded home. Also the BBC stated that everyone in a flood warning area should know how to turn of water and electricity to stop the situation becoming worse for the residence in that area. This is Pembroke Commons it has been severally affected by flooding in the area. Flooding happens badly in Pembrokeshire because of the terrain we have, most places in Pembrokeshire have a lot of hills and marshland so the ground gets over saturated with water. In order to prevent this the Pembrokeshire County Council would have to make river banks higher or create more flood defenses to stop the water from over flowing onto the roads and fields. These flood defenses would be a great idea because farmers could still use their fields for business. We interviewed local residents of Haverfordwest and asked them for their point of view on this flooding problem, They claim that “I think the problem is that the river beds are flooding but no-one really does anything about it they just ignore the fact people might have to move out of their homes because of flooding.” The Flooding in Cardigan affected 20 properties including a pub and local residents, on the 7th of November 2014 fire departments were sent out to start pumping water from the Old Bridge river in Haverfordwest but no properties were evacuated. The highway surface water systems are designed to accommodate expected rainfall intensities but perhaps not the very exceptional rainfall.Pembrokeshire council said it took more than 100 flood-related calls, with the north and north east of the county the worst affected, particularly St Dogmaels, Newport and Dinas. There was reported to be flooding and bad driving conditions in Fishguard and Eglwyswrw also at Newgale and Roch. For over a few hours there was 33mm of rain per hour, that is a lot of rain. A flood warning has also been put on the Cleddau's western section at Haverfordwest as the Environment Agency Wales says river levels are expected to rise until midnight.Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service said crews attended 30 flooding incidents within three hours since 17:15 BST on Monday, mainly in Pembroke Dock and Milford Haven. The river at Carew that is starting to flood massively Roads and properties in Milford Haven and Pembroke Dock as well as Neyland and Haverfordwest have been affected.
