ALL ABOUT TRASH Waste Management – 800-796-9696 Public Works Department – 836-6971 or 836-6970 TRASH Waste Management requests that you fill up the Waste Management trash cart first before putting separate bags or cans next to your trash cart. The weight limit for each Waste Management cart is 200 pounds. The weight limit for separate cans or paper/plastic bags is 50 pounds. Waste Management will NOT pick up separate cans or bags if they weigh more than 50 pounds. Use the green cart with the green lid for trash. The trash will be picked once a week. Place your trash cart at the curb by 6 am the day of collection. After collection, all carts should be removed from the curb no later than the evening of your collection. Everything below should be put into your trash cart. Normal household garbage Yard Waste (grass clippings & garden clippings in or out of bags) NO LEAVES Small Twigs LARGE ITEMS Waste Management will collect one large item per week with your regular trash at no additional charge. Place your large item at the curb on the same day as your regular trash collection next to your trash cart. Items must be smaller than seven feet and weight less than 50 pounds. Examples of acceptable large items : Couches Chairs Household furniture Bicycles Carpeting – cut into 4-foot bundles and bound with electrical tape or rope Mattress and box spring ITEMS THAT WILL NOT BE PICKED UP BY WASTE MANAGEMENT Leaves Electronics – Televisions, computers, laptops, phones, etc. Construction debris Bricks Concrete Counter tops Toilets Cabinets Roofing Basketball poles Swing sets Oil based Paint Pesticides Petroleum derivatives (motor oil, solvents) Explosive items MISSED COLLECTION Despite their best efforts, Waste Management will occasionally miss scheduled collections. If they do, please call as soon as you can. They will try to return on the same day to pick it up, without charge. If the driver has already left the town, they will pick up the missed stop the following day. BROKEN LID, BROKEN WHEEL OR HOLE IN CART If you have a broken lid, broken wheel or hole in your cart, call Waste Management to get the cart repaired. Please leave the cart out in plain sight from the street so that Waste Management can see the cart and repair it. WHITE GOODS PICK UP The Public Works Department will pick up items listed below on Wednesdays. Items must be at curbside by 7:00 am for pick up and you will need to call the Public Works Department at least 24 hours in advance. Call 836-6971 to schedule pick up. Washer, dryer, freezer, refrigerator, stove Small amount of construction debris Swing sets (wood and metal) Basketball poles Large electronics CHARGE PILE If you have an excessive pile of branches or debris, it will be a charge pile. The minimum charge is $130 for pick up. Call Public Works at 836-6971 for more information. DO NOT PUT TRASH IN WHEELBARRELS, HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE CANS, BARRELS, OR OTHER CONTAINERS THAT YOU MIGHT WANT TO KEEP. WASTE MANAGEMENT WILL TAKE THE CONTAINER IF NOT MARKED TO KEEP.
