Apply for a Price Fellowship
Grant Opportunity for New York City
Public Schools
Educators and administrators, are you looking to:
Deepen your school’s capacity to academically challenge and engage students?
Develop or strengthen a school-wide culture that values community and civic participation?
Support literacy skills with Common Core-aligned primary source documents?
Improve teaching practice through a critical friends group?
Facing History is currently accepting grant applications for professional development and teaching materials
valued at more than $12,000. Recommended for middle and high school educators in U.S. and Global History,
Government, Civics, and ELA classrooms.
Deadline for applications is Monday, March 2, 2015.
Four to six New York City public schools will be selected.
Selected schools will receive:






Full scholarship for three to five staff members to attend a three to five day Facing History and Ourselves
summer seminar in New York or New Jersey (ordinarily $420 - $700 per teacher)
Up to $1800 per school to support excellence in teacher practice; participating teachers will be required
to:
 Observe colleagues' Facing History classrooms within the school or visit other in-depth Facing
History schools at least once; funding can help defray cost of teacher coverages or substitutes
 Join a Price Fellows learning community; funding can help provide per session payments to attend
two face-to-face or virtual gatherings
Year-long consultation and support from Facing History staff, including the possibility of an in-service
professional development workshop (valued at $2,600 per day)
A class set of Facing History resource books for each teacher who attends a seminar and brings the
curriculum to his or her classroom ($750 value per set)
Access to Facing History’s supplementary Common Core literacy guides and professional development to
incorporate their use
Access to Facing History’s lending library, an extensive collection of resources for classroom use including
DVDs, class sets of books, and other materials
