The Bewdley School
Attainment & Progress 2015
Against a backdrop of significant educational
change, 72% of Bewdley students achieved at
least 5 A*-C GCSE passes. 63% achieved 5A*C including English language and maths, an
increase of 6%. The school is particularly
pleased that our English and maths results are
once again significantly above the national
average. 80% of all learners achieved An A*-C
grade in English compared to the national
average of 65% and the Worcestershire
average of 71%. In Maths 73% of all learners
achieved A*-C compared with 63% nationally.
A quarter of students achieved the gold
standard English Baccalaureate, a qualification
that requires an A* - C pass in English, maths,
science a language and a humanities subject.
Learners in receipt of pupil premium funding
perform well at Bewdley. The gap between PP
learners and non-PP learners narrowed in 2015
to 23%, 5% better than national figures. In the
previous 3 years 48% of these learners have
achieved 5A*-C(EM) against 39% nationally.
The Bewdley School is one of just 300 in the
country who have opted in a year early to the
Government's new method of judging school
success. This “Progress 8” measure shows that
learners at Bewdley have made significantly
better progress than the national average since
they joined us at 11-years-old.
At the end of KS3, learners have made good
progress since joining us in Year 7. A small
group of PP learners in English and maths are
receiving extra support to help close the gap
that exists there.
KS3 Attainment
Learners are formally assessed in all
subjects every term and their progress is
monitored using our Progress Paths
system. Interventions are put in place for
learners who fall behind.
