MEDIA ALERT For immediate Release 30 June 2015 Gauteng show case best practices Public Works Minister TW Nxesi, MP, and the 9 provincial Public Works MECs will be visiting three Gauteng Infrastructure Development projects as part of the MinMEC (Minister and MECs) meeting to be hosted by the Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development (GDID). The projects to be visited on the 01st July 2015 have created job opportunities for different communities; skills development, fast tracked service delivery on the priorities of Government including Health and Education. Members of the media are invited to the site visits where they will also get a chance to interact with the Minister and the different MECs. The projects to be visited are the new Natalspruit Hospital, Noordwyk Secondary School in Midrand and Boitumelo Secondary School in Thembisa. Transport will be made available for members of the media who require assistance in this regard. You kindly requested to make contact with Mr Xaba the Media Liaison Officer 1 DETAILS OF THE PROJECTS VISIT Date: 02 July 20 15 1st Site: Thelle Mogoerane Hospital (New Natalspruit Hospital) The New Natalspruit Hospital is a combination of a Level 1 and Level 2 Hospital providing 769 beds that will service the Kathorus (Kathlehong and Vosloorus) communities as well as any emergencies that may arise on the N3. The project spans over 71 000m² and offers modern designs utilising space, volume, natural light and ventilation. Time 10:00 am 2nd Site: NOORDWYK SECONDARY SCHOOL – MIDRAND (CITY OF JOHANNESBURG) The Noordwyk Secondary School is part of the New Priority Schools Programme (NPSP). The decision to undertake the NPSP was undertaken by the MEC’s of the Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development (GDID) and the Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) on the 15th of August 2012. IT is also the provices model school for green techonolgy and green solutions, featuring water harvesting, solar power, solar water heating and 6,38 laminated safety glass. Time: 11:15 3rd Site: BOITUMELONG SECONDARY SCHOOL – TEMBISA (EKURHULENI) It is here where the Smart Schools concept was launched by the Deputy President of Republic Cyril Ramaphoso with full roll out eminent is a radical departure to presentation of learning material and learning environment. The concept is anchored by an advanced information communication technology platform whereby chalk boards and text books are replaced with interactive LCD smart boards and tables for learners.
