Let us all pray and work together to improve our Parish Community and Country in every way that we can. ******************** Parish Council Last Saturday, March 9th the new Parish Council completed a second day of training and preparation with Ellie McKeown, who is a Diocesan facilitator for Parish Development and Renewal. Int) Tues.10a.m.Pat Tuborid (R.D.) We were all saddened to learn of the death of John Burke of Sycamore Road on Wednesday March 13th. May he rest in peace and enjoy fullness of life with the Risen Lord. John prayed with us in this parish for a long number of years and served faithfully as a Minister of the Eucharist. Our sincere sympathy is extended to Dymphna and all the family. We Need your help Some of our parishioners go to Mass elsewhere and consequently have their funerals in other parishes. Some of these people have been very supportive to the Family Offering and Dues collections over the years and therefore they are on our mailing list. Unfortunately, we don’t always hear about their deaths. If you know of any neighbour whose funeral has taken place in another church, please let Eithne know in the parish office so we can keep our database updated. *************** Lost Property ****************** Habemus Papam Yes – Yes – Yes This in indeed good news of great joy for all Catholic people and, hopefully, for all people. We are all surprised and uplifted at the election of Jorge Mario Bergoglio from Argentina as Pope. This has indeed been a Catholic Spring 2013 of firsts and surprises – papal resignation, first Pope from the Americas, Southern Hemisphere, first Jesuit and apparently, a man who has taken very seriously to heart the teaching as to the best way to encounter the Risen Christ – “I was hungry and you gave me to eat”. The new phase of a journey begins. Our prayers, good wishes, welcome and love are with Pope Francis. *************** Please support Daffodil day on Friday 22 nd March in aid of the Cancer Society. Every week there are items left behind in the Oratory. These items are kept in the room beside the Sacristy. Please check with the sacristans if you have lost anything in the last few weeks. After one month they are removed. **************** The Sunshine Fund Society of St. Vincent DePaul This special collection to help provide holidays and services for children in need will replace the Share collection at all Masses on March 23rd and Passion Sunday 24th. Your best contribution to this cause is very much appreciated.
