Happy HHappy St. Patrick’s Day
This is a great weekend of celebration for all of us as Irish people. We have been
through some very difficult years as a Church and as a Country. However, there are
hopeful signs that Spring is coming and that positive change is happening in our Church
and Country The fundamental Good News that Patrick brought to us so long ago allied
with our special gifts of Celtic Spirituality still has the power to sustain us. Let us all
pray and work together to improve our Parish Community and Country in every way
that we can.

Last Saturday, March 9th the new Parish Council completed a second day of training

A meeting of the Council was held on Monday night March 11 th. This is an excellent
team and all are prepared to give their best for the development and improvement of all
the Ministries within the St. Attracta’s Parish.
This Parish Council is essentially a voluntary body where the priest and people work
together to promote the Christian life of the parish and administer the parish affairs in
accordance with the decrees of the Second Vatican Council (1962 – 1965).
Your ideas and suggestions are more than welcome and will be discussed at the
meetings. Your talents and help and contribution are also crucial. All of us as a
baptized people have a part to play and service to give. Please pray for the success of
this council and the development of St. Attracta’s Parish.

We were all saddened to learn of the death of
John Burke of Sycamore Road on
Wednesday March 13th. May he rest in
peace and enjoy fullness of life with the
Risen Lord. John prayed with us in this
parish for a long number of years and served
faithfully as a Minister of the Eucharist.
Our sincere sympathy is extended to
Dymphna and all the family.
We Need your help
Some of our parishioners go to Mass
elsewhere and consequently have their
funerals in other parishes. Some of
these people have been very supportive
to the Family Offering and Dues
collections over the years and therefore
they are on our mailing list.
Unfortunately, we don’t always hear
about their deaths. If you know of any
neighbour whose funeral has taken
place in another church, please let
Eithne know in the parish office so we
can keep our database updated.

Habemus Papam
Yes – Yes – Yes
This in indeed good news of great joy for all
Catholic people and, hopefully, for all
people. We are all surprised and uplifted at
the election of Jorge Mario Bergoglio from
Argentina as Pope. This has indeed been a
Catholic Spring 2013 of firsts and surprises –
papal resignation, first Pope from the
Americas, Southern Hemisphere, first Jesuit
and apparently, a man who has taken very
seriously to heart the teaching as to the best
way to encounter the Risen Christ – “I was
hungry and you gave me to eat”. The new
phase of a journey begins. Our prayers,
good wishes, welcome and love are with Pope
Francis.

Every week there are items left behind
in the Oratory. These items are kept in
the room beside the Sacristy. Please
check with the sacristans if you have
lost anything in the last few weeks.
After one month they are removed.
