This international learning experience is focused on engaged research, global learning, student leadership, and
social responsibility. Students will work on a research project aimed at understanding community-resilience to
flooding. Teams of students will conduct community based research with the intention of gaining a broader
understanding of the complexities of the social dimensions of water resource management, flooding, and
broader issues of sustainability facing our world. Students will work with Mahidol University students in Thailand
and community partners to conduct research to better understand experiences with flooding and how to build
long-term resilience and adaptation.
This Fall 2014 course is required to participate in the 3-week study abroad experience in Thailand in January
2015. An application is required and is available by contacting the Teaching Support Specialist for the course,
Amy Kuo Somchanhmavong ayk3@cornell.edu . Applications were due March 28, 2014.
