Elliott Hazen's research interests span from oceanography to quantitative ecology, specifically examining species-habitat relationships, predator-prey dynamics, and climate effects on marine ecosystems. His projects have addressed a range of topics from fine-scale foraging ecology of top predators to modeling the effects of climate change on top predator habitat and biodiversity. In addition, he has co-authored papers reviewing ecosystem based management practices and is currently working as part of an interdisciplinary team to use statistical models to create novel management strategies for the California Current. Dr. Hazen received his master's in science from the University of Washington in 2003 and his doctorate in ecology from Duke University in 2008. In 2009, he has worked with NOAA's Environmental Research Division in Pacific Grove, California and collaborating with the numerous marine researches in the Monterey Bay area. Currently, he is serving as an adjunct professor at University of California Santa Cruz and as a research ecologist at NOAA in Pacific Grove.
