Review For Final Chemistry Test – SNC1D
1) Chemical Properties of Matter and Chemical Changes -know how chemical properties of matter can
be used to classify a substance. Know the five indicators of a chemical change, and be able to
differentiate between a physical and chemical change.
2) Atoms Protons Neutrons and Electrons -Know the components of the atom and their location in the
atom. Be able to use standard atomic notation to find the number of protons, neutrons and electrons in
atoms, ions and isotopes.
3) History of Atomic Theory and the Bohr- Rutherford Model of the Atom- be able to explain
Dalton’s, Thompson’s, and the Bohr-Rutherford models of the atom. Be able to draw and explain
Bohr-Rutherford Diagrams for the first 20 elements.
4) Periodic Table - understand how the periodic table is organized and the names of the groups and their
characteristics. Be able to find ionic charges from the table.
5) Testing for Elements and Compounds-know the names and positive results for tests for specific
gases. (CO2, H2O, O2, H2)
6) Symbols and Formulas- be able to write and formulas and name simple binary ionic and binary
covalent compounds. Be able to name compounds containing polyatomic ions.
