D of E Table Tennis
This enrichment is designed to meet one of the activity
criteria for the Duke of Edinburgh award. During the
enrichment, pupils will learn how to score a game of table
tennis. How to play a forehand and backhand. By the end
of the Enrichment it is hoped that pupils will be able to be
participate in short rallies using these shots.
Calling all card sharks! This enrichment is designed to
teach pupils the art of the bluff and the skills needed to
play a hand of poker. We can accept beginners and more
experienced players, as we learn to play the game. Pupils
will learn valuable social communication skills in this fun
team-based game and will need to be able to read signals
sent by those they are playing against. They will also learn
numeracy skills as they place their bets! While not playing
for cash, advanced players might be able to pit their skills
on a few chocolate buttons!

Vocabulary Group
Pupil-led Enrichment.
Pupils will learn about the starting points for writing rock
and pop songs, using guitars and keyboards. They will
perform them and develop some of the ideas for
recording.
Pupil-led Enrichment.
Pupils will look at the fundamentals of creative
advertising and will be create their own adverts, firstly as
leaflets or posters, then developing these into filmed
commercials.
GROUP COMMUNICATION-VOCABULARY GROUP
This group plans to expand the pupils’ vocabulary
knowledge, focusing particularly on abstract vocabulary,
which is often more challenging to acquire.
There will be quizzes, competitions and vocabulary
games. We will be working through Grade 2 of the
structured Word a Day Vocabulary programme.
The pupils will learn strategies to help them learn new
vocabulary efficiently; They will learn to link new
vocabulary to words that they already know, by
comparing and contrasting meanings. They will be
encouraged to guess the meaning of unfamiliar words, by
analysing contextual clues and gathering information on
grammatical usage. They will have multiple opportunities
to use the words in a variety of contexts so that the exact
pronunciation, meaning and grammatical usage for the
words becomes firmly embedded. Vocabulary knowledge
is a key predictor of later academic success, so hopefully
these sessions will help provide them with the tools to
achieve their full potential.

varied vocal intonation, facial expression and gesture.
They will also raise their awareness of their listener’s
needs and practise recognising cues from others which
give them feedback on their story.
Pupils will learn about the basics of running and what is
required, both physically and mentally, for varying
distances. Training plans will be developed which will
hopefully improve runners times and stamina! Runners
will compete weekly against the clock and fellow Moat
pupils and hopefully arrange at least one external event
to take part in.

Pupils will begin by researching ingredients and methods
for making bath bombs, then they will make and design
their own. Towards the middle of the term pupils will
develop this into a business, focusing on costing, pricing,
packaging and marketing. The products will be sold in
school. This is perfect for pupils with a creative eye and a
flair for business!
The pupils will be practicing their fine motor skills by
arranging tiny magnetic balls into various shapes and
patterns. Each lesson, the pupils will be challenged to
create patterns with different planes of symmetry. This
will reinforce this element of the mathematics curriculum.
If pupils are feeling particularly artistic, they can also try
their hand at making 3D sculptures out of the magnets.
