Job Title:
Programme Executive

Job Purpose:
To assist in developing Business in the Community’s employability programmes
Salary:
£18k circa
Contract:
12 months (possible extension subject to funding)
Deadline for applications: Monday 22 April 2013 at 5:00 pm. It is proposed that interviews will be
conducted week commencing 29 April 2013.
Main Job Requirements
The successful candidate will work as part of a team delivering BITC employability programmes the
Graduate Acceleration Programme (GAP) and Strive 2 Work. This will involve:
1. Recruiting GAP and Strive to Work participants and placement providers onto the programmes.
2. Meeting with participants and matching them to suitable placements.
3. Managing and supporting those participating in GAP and Strive to Work, throughout their
placement.
4. Building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.
The successful applicant will have specific targets for assisting unemployed participants and will be
expected to engage Business in the Community members in the programme.

Provide Quality Services
To work as part of the Business in the Community Team, providing an efficient and professional
level of support to the Graduate Acceleration Programme and Strive 2 Work.
1.1
To develop a comprehensive knowledge of Steps to Work’s procedures and policies.
1.2
To recruit participants in conjunction with the Communications Team
1.3
To source placement opportunities by attending events, working with the
Communication’s Team and networking with BITC’s member companies.
1.4
To meet, interview, prepare and match participants with placement opportunities
1.5
To manage and oversee participants, including monitoring and support during work
placement.

To liaise with Lead Contractors, attending and facilitating workshops when required

To liaise with Department for Employment and Learning (DEL) staff, conducting
presentations, hosting information sessions, building and maintaining relationships with
key DEL personnel

To identify and promote potential career options for participants

To help manage an effective programme that will support unemployed participants by providing
them with academically recognised work experience.

delivery.

To effectively utilise existing resources and assist in securing new resources to meet programme

To provide induction support and training to new staff.

Personnel Specification
Essential
1. Third level qualification or equivalent.*
2. Access to transport for business use
3. At least one years’ recent experience in a business role providing evidence of your success and
specific evidence of multi-tasking.
4. Strong IT skills, including experience of MS Windows applications
5. Excellent communication skills
6. Excellent time management and organisational skills and the ability to work on own initiative
7. An ability to meet ambitious targets
8. An ability to multi-task and prioritise effectively
9. An ability to influence and persuade others

Desirable
1. Working knowledge of Steps to Work programmes

1. Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills are required to enable the jobholder to work
effectively across a number of teams internally and with external stakeholders.
2. Strong selling skills and the ability to inspire and persuade public and private sectors of the
benefits of GAP and Strive 2 Work.
3. Drive, enthusiasm and initiative, along with a strong belief in the values of Business in the
Community.
4. The jobholder needs to be a self-starter with the ability to get on with the job and to work
dynamically as part of a team.
