Welcome
Sarah made sure everyone knew who everyone was and did an
icebreaker
Sarah went through the ground rules that the group had talked
about last time.

Sarah also introduced the group to Alan, who is on the board and
in charge of the board.
Alan said that he wanted to make health care better for people
with learning disabilities.
Some of the group talked about the Healthy Me course at
Mencap Liverpool.
What happened at the last meeting
We talked about some of the ideas we had
The members social without staff can happen, but it will have to
put out of the office
Kevin asked about the voting workshop. The group voted to have
this one evening soon.
Brian asked about having one of the members on the board
Alan said this was a good idea

He would like to see members at board meetings
But members might need training before they can become a
trustee
Sarah told the group that Mencap Liverpool might arrange a trip
to a music festival if we get money for it
Sarah also said that we might arrange a trip to the farm soon if
the women’s group trip goes well
We talked about group names but did not choose one
Name ideas can be written on the member’s notice board to
members can vote on them
The group also talked about having more things to look at at
meeting to make them easier to understand
Lois will work on this

Kevin talked about going into schools to do training about
learning disability
Sarah told the group about the training we had given to the
police and how we could do it in schools
Sue said we should do this outside of Liverpool too, but Alan said
we only work in Liverpool
Alan said we could arrange some training for members to do this
training
Sarah said some members had been involved in different bits of
training
The group talked about how we could make the signing in book
easier for members
Brian said he does not like the door to the office being locked
and having to knock
Sarah said we had to have it locked to keep us safe but that
members might be able to have a code
The group talked about setting up a football team

Fundraising ideas
Sue said we should do a sponsored bike ride or swim
Billy talked about a music night, and said he might have a friend
who could help
Sue said we could sponsor people to do things like give up
smoking
