Manchester Metropolitan University MMU Recycling guidance Only the following should be in Paper and Card recycling: White and coloured paper (no need to remove staples) Newspapers Magazines Catalogues Directories Envelopes (with or without plastic ‘windows’) Greetings cards Cardboard Packaging (small items) No thanks: Juice cartons Wet paper or card Food contaminated paper or card Plastic sleeves, covers or ring binders Deposable paper cups Only the following should be in Cans, Glass and Plastic recycling: Clean Plastic food containers (e.g. yoghurt pots, margarine tubs) Plastic bottles (and tops) Glass (bottles and jars) Cans Tins Cling film No thanks: Plastic sleeves, covers or ring binders Broken Glass Liquids Crisp packets Polystyrene Plastic carrier bags Plastic food containers (e.g. yoghurt pots, margarine tubs) The following should NOT be in general waste (hazardous waste): Batteries Oils Chemicals Paints Electrical items Printer Cartridges Green Impact November 2013 Manchester Metropolitan University MMU Recycling Audit Please look in to all Can, Glass & Plastics and Paper & Card recycling bins within your working area and complete the following for each bin you audit. We are not expecting you to rummage through the bin, simply to conduct a visual assessment. PLEASE TAKE A PHOTO of inside the bins you visit and share to your team. Please list all recyclable items you can see within the recycling bin. How many pieces of recyclable material in the recycling bin appear to be unclean or unsuitable for recycling? Please identify the item and the reason for its unsuitability. Please list all non-recyclable items you have identified within the recycling bin. Please list any Hazardous waste items you have identified within the recycling bin.
