RugbyWA Juniors Regional Trial General Information Regional Trials will be broken up into 2 x Trial dates, RugbyWA will conduct a new method of Trials along with enhancing the Player Selection Data Base along with updating Player information relating to previous databases. RugbyWA will change the process by conducting the following; On-line registration process through the RugbyWA website. All potential players / trialist’s must register their intention via the on-line system, found on the RugbyWA Website. No registrations will be accepted once registrations close. Trialsist’s are required / expected to attend both trial dates, this is a non-negotiable and is required to set the required standards expected by players. Those who do not attend both trials dates will need to provide suitable reasoning as to nonattendance. Coaches selected will be provided additional and comprehensive training material that will enhance the player experience and in turn produce a higher standard of Rugby during the Trials and Championships. Eligibility will be determined by which club you are registered with as per the below table; Eligibility North North Coast Joondalup Wanneroo Wests Scarborough Perth Bayswater Swan Suburbs UWA Nedlands Associates GoldFields RU South Mandurah Rockingham Kwinana Southern Lions Arks Palmyra Kalamunda Cottesloe Curtin South West RU Trial Information 1st Day Trial – 10th August 2014 U14 – 0845 – 1030h U15 – 0915 – 1100h U16 – 0945 – 1130h 2nd Day Trial – 13th August 2014 U14 – 1715 – 1900h U15 – 1745 – 1930h U16 – 1800 – 2000h The Trial will be conducted through the use of Drills and Game related activities consisting of Positional and Non-Negotiable Drills. Players will be assessed at every station and every drill to determine suitability for selection to the Regional Team. Those players that do not meet the required standards will NOT trial on the second night. These players will be informed via a general email advising of their non-selection. The names of those successful players that progress through to the second trial will be highlighted on the RugbyWA website, by COB Monday following the first Trial. Verbal communications with players not selected will be provided where appropriate and in due course, however lengthy explanations and decisions will not be provided. Players and Parents will be provided with the selection criteria for each position as part of the application process and will be available on the RugbyWA website. Player Rating System Players will be scored/ranked on their performances throughout the trials from the moment they are allocated a number. All players will be given a number at the beginning of the Trials and this number will correspond to their position on the Roll utilised for the trial. This number will be used to ensure that relevant information is obtained on the player in question and will be used to provide feedback where required. The rating system for players will be by using the following ranking system; 1. Below Average 2. Average 3. Above Average Players will be ranked at the end of the session and this information will be used as the basis of making any required cuts to the training squad prior to those that will be required to attend the 2nd Trial dates as above. It is in the Players interest to perform as the very best standard at all times, whilst displaying the required person standard expected of a representative player and those expected from their Coaching and assessing staff.
