Dear Parents:
We are extremely excited about the upcoming learning opportunity being arranged for our
students. On Tuesday, May 24, 2016, we will board Forsyth County School buses for a fun-filled,
educational day and night field trip at Rock Eagle in Eatonton, GA. This trip will be an overnight field
trip that will be packed with educational experiences tied directly to state standards. Our students will
participate in classes built around their science curriculum and team building activities.
The cost of this learning opportunity is $110.00 per student. This price includes:
*transportation to and from Rock Eagle
*All meals (2 lunches, dinner, and breakfast)
*All classes and activities
*Overnight accommodations in air-conditioned cabins.
To register your child for this experience, please complete the attached form and send it in with
your full payment of $110.00, or first installment of $40.00, to your child's blue class teacher on or
before October 9th, 2015. The field trip policy form must also be attached with the first payment for
proper registration. If you have not registered by this date, you will not be allowed to go on the trip.
The second payment of $35 will be due on February 26th, 2016. The final payment of $35.00 will be
due on April 1, 2016.
While we hope that all students will be able to attend, some may not be able to financially
afford this trip. If you can donate extra to go towards a scholarship to help pay for another student, it
will be greatly appreciated.
*** All checks should be made payable to Otwell Middle School, with a phone number, driver's
license number, and student's name.
*** If you would like to pay the full amount via credit card ($110), you may make this payment on the
school website under online orders.
*Initial deposits of $40 will not be refunded regardless of any reason. This initial deposit is used
to secure your child’s spot at the camp.

May 24, 2016. I have signed the 7th grade Field Trip Policy agreement. We cannot guarantee a
refund once payment has been made. I also understand that Otwell Middle School shall not be
liable for any injury, damage, loss, delay, or any other irregularities that occur as the fault of
service providers on this trip. I commit to having my child here at Otwell at 7:15 AM on
Tuesday, May 24th and will pick my child up from Otwell at 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday,
May 25th. If you are unable to pick your child up by 3 PM on Wednesday, your child will
stay at school till afternoon dismissal at 4:30.

*Closer to the trip, we will be sending home permission forms for medications, allergies,
dietary restrictions, a list of what to pack, and contact information.
Rock Eagle Scholarship
We are excited to once again be able to offer the Rock Eagle trip to our 7 th grade students. While we understand that this could
possibly be a financial issue for some families, we want everyone to be able to attend this fantastic experience. If you are in need of
financial assistance, we have developed a scholarship program in which students can earn a supplement of $70.00 to help pay for the
cost of the trip. We do require that the initial deposit of $40.00 must be paid by October 2, 2015. If you are interested in receiving
more information about the Rock Eagle trip scholarship, please contact Ms. Emily Harrison. Students must complete all requirements
outlined in the scholarship agreement. We feel this is a life lesson and helps students to understand that applying for scholarships in
high school and college will require some work on their part.
