Clinical placement will be at an affiliated clinic or hospital which may include, but is not limited to: Austin State Hospital, Lone Star Circle of Care, Collaborative Care, or Bluebonnet MHMR. Course Description and Prerequisites This 2 or 4 week elective will introduce the student to child psychiatry. The student will learn the process of child psychiatric evaluation, and will be introduced to issues related to diagnostic classification in children and adolescents. They will be exposed to various treatment modalities used in child psychiatry, including exposure to the issues surrounding the use of psychotropic medications in children. Housing will not be provided for this course.
