October is Black History Month.
The 50th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s ‘I have a dream’ speech or Mo Farah ‘s
amazing achievements over the summer make them ideal material for schools to
study in Black History Month .

Many schools in the UK ( both secondary and primary ) have a focus on the
achievements and contributions of black people during Black History month October. These could be linked to a particular subject ( eg Science) or be linked to
the curriculum of each year group.
Some schools do not wait for Black History Month but ensure that their curriculum
includes examples from BME people throughout the year.
