Scholarship for International Students from
International Sister Cities of Chengdu City
To whom it may concern:
In March 2014, Chengdu Municipal People’s Government officially set
up the “Government Scholarship for International Students from
International Sister Cities of Chengdu City” (hereinafter referred to as the
“Scholarship”) in order to further the exchange and cooperation between
Chengdu City and its international Sister Cities and enhance mutual
understanding and friendship.
The Scholarship is provided by Chengdu Municipal People’s Government
to support the study and living of international students from international
Sister Cities who receive degree/diploma education or non-degree
programs for more than three months in Chengdu. The applicants shall be
enrolled by higher education institutions in Chengdu and meet the
following requirements:
1. Non-Chinese citizen;
2. Born in, study, work or live in the Sister Cities of Chengdu City
and hold the confirmation letters issued by related government
departments of Sister Cities (in charge of international affairs).
Chengdu is a city with excellent education in China and has more than 40
colleges and universities like Sichuan University, University of Electronic
Science and Technology of China, Southwest Jiaotong University,
Southwestern University of Finance and Economics, Chengdu University
and Chengdu University of TCM. Chengdu is not only one of China’s
National Historical and Cultural Cities, Home of Pandas, the Birthplace
of Taoism Culture but also the Best City for Business and the Best
Destination for Tourism throughout China.
We sincerely welcome international students from to study in Chengdu,
expecting them to appreciate the unique charms of Chengdu in its famous
histories and cultures and witness its vigorous economic and social
developments. Meanwhile we are expecting that the international students
from can act as the emissaries for cementing the friendship and
deepening the cooperation between Chengdu and, all of which will
vitalize the development of Chengdu.

Requirements and Criteria for Scholarship Application
Article I Scholarship applicants should meet the following basic
requirements:
1. Scholarship applicants should be citizens from the Sister Cities
with foreign nationalities, friendly to China and in good shape.
2. Scholarship applicants should abide by the laws and regulations of
the Chinese governments and have good performance, meeting the
admission requirements of the school that he or she has applied for.
3. Students who apply for a diploma or a bachelor’s degree should
have a certificate that is equivalent to the certificate graduating from high
schools in China; students who apply for the master’s degree should have
a bachelor’s degree or equivalent; students who apply for a doctorate
should have a master’s degree or equivalent.
4. Scholarship applicants who would accept the non-degree
education in higher education institutions in Chengdu, the term of which
should last not less than three months.
5. Scholarship applicants should have the right attitude to study,
without breaking school rules and disciplines and having good academic
performance.
6. International students who have been awarded the Government
Scholarship for International Students in Sichuan Province are not
allowed to apply for the Scholarship.
Article II Incentive standards of scholarship are as follows: for
doctoral students, 30,000 Yuan/Year, with the period of no more than
three years; for postgraduates, 25,000 Yuan/Year, with the period of no
more than three years; for undergraduates, 20,000 Yuan/Year, with the
period of no more than four years; for college diploma students, 15,000
Yuan/Year, with the period of no more than three years. Exchange
students of non-degree education can obtain the exchange program
scholarship of 1,000 Yuan/Person with the maximum of no more than
10,000 Yuan/Person carried out and approved by the evaluation team
based on the specific situations of the current year. Exchange students are
not allowed to apply for the Scholarship within three years from the year
they are awarded the one-off incentive.
