Here in the United States we have luxuries that some countries in this world can only dream about. Things like TV, computers, and the movies. But there are some countries that cannot even afford food for their children, countries that are at the point of total starvation. I am sure you all remember concerts that have been organized to raise money for these countries, like Band Aid in London, as well as USA for Africa held here at home. Well, Corey Palmer has suggested that this school stage a concert of our own to raise money for these countries, and we think it is a wonderful idea. Rehearsals will start tomorrow, and we would like you all to be involved. Eileen (reading a “mystery letter” at her locker): “Dear Eileen,” Oh, that’s me! “Tonight I celebrate my love for you. These past few months have been tough, but I’m still standing, after all this time. And when the going gets tough…the tough get going.” He’s so cool! “This is not easy, but the time has come to reveal myself to you. I hope you will sign your name across my heart, I want you to be my baby.” He’s so sensitive. “I’m never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down, never gonna run around and desert you. Never gonna make you cry, never gonna say goodbye, never gonna tell a lie and hurt you. If you will be mine, then heaven is a place on earth. Forever yours – Michael Feldman!” Oh my gosh! Michael Feldman is totally in love with me!! SHOW SYNOPSIS Set in the USA, Back to the 80’s tells the story of the senior class of William Ocean High School that graduated in the 1980’s, as remembered and seen through the eyes of Corey Palmer, who is now 30-something. The then 17-year-old Corey is madly in love with his next door neighbor, Tiffany Houston, one of the coolest girls in school. However, she barely notices this, as she is too busy mooning over Michael Feldman, the hottest guy around. Michael and his friends are athletic and good-looking – the kind of guys that Corey and his two best friends (Alf Bueller and Kirk Keaton) dream of being. However, while they may not be the coolest guys in school, they are still on up on Feargal McFerrin III, whose best friend is his computer, and who believes the crazy notion that one day CD’s will replace cassette tapes. During the year, several new students arrive at the school – Mel and Kim Easton (the all-singing, all-dancing twin cheerleaders) and Eileen Reagan, whose life becomes a nightmare when Michael and his gang start to send her fake love letters. Meanwhile the teachers are having issues of their own. Mr. Cocker, after being in a relationship for two years with the apparently conservative Miss Brannigan, confiscates an old swimsuit catalogue only to discover that his girlfriend is the centerfold. Throw in a Star Wars dream sequence, high-energy dance routines, the obligatory 80’s party scene, blue eyeshadow, and some of the most popular songs ever written, and the result is a musical that will delight and amuse an audience of any age!
