Methodology: The course evaluation survey was posted to Moodle for students to
complete. The students were informed of the survey location, and they were asked to complete the
survey online before the end of term 1. The survey instrument was a Likert-type questionnaire
where the students were asked to rate their level of agreement with the statements referring to the
lecture, book, exams and classroom as meeting the course objectives. The option of providing
narrative comments was also offered. For the Spring semester, there were a total of 92 students
enrolled in term 1 and 2, with only 33 students (36%) completed the survey. Reminders were sent
to students multiple times requesting participation in the course evaluation.

B. Summary of Narrative Comments:
Comments relating to the course were overall positive. Negative comments include wanting one
instructor instead of team teaching. Some positive comments include the class being very
informative, and the instructors prepared the students well for clinical. One instructor was described
as enthusiastic and excited about the content. Overall, the results indicated that the course was
organized and followed clinical and skills lab very well.
C. Comparison of current results with results from the last two course evaluations:
In comparing the student survey with the previous one in 2013, this year the student response was
again significantly reduced. Data was collected for both terms in the Spring 2014 semester, in
comparison to the previous survey. However, participation was still again extremely low.

REVIEW OF COURSE DESCRIPTION, OBJECTIVES AND CONTENT OUTLINE
Patient safety is addressed in the content outline as well as health promotion and teaching. The
course content is consistent with course objectives and reflects the essentials of baccalaureate
education, the School of Nursing mission and program objectives, and professional nursing
standards. There have been no revisions in the syllabus course description, objectives, and
content since the previous report one year ago. In order the strengthen and emphasize the
essentials of baccalaureate education, the course objectives and unit objectives could be revised to
include language that reflects increased areas of patient safety, quality improvement, and
healthcare policy.
