The degree title is Bachelor of Engineering and the extent of the degree is 240 ECTS credit points
(4 years). Tuition is organized in two campuses Agricolankatu and Vanha maantie. However the
studies in the first year take place only on Agricolankatu campus (Agricolankatu 1-3, 00500
Helsinki). Your study group code is: TXB12S1.

COM ME NC I N G Y O UR S T U D IE S
Your Bachelor’s Degree studies begin with the Orientation Days on 27.8.–28.8.2012.
We expect, and strongly recommend, every new student to take part in the Orientation Days. You
will receive essential study information and advice, i.e. study certificates and computer logons.
The week will also be a good opportunity for you to meet your fellow students.
Please check the detailed schedule and location of the Orientation Days for your Degree
Programme from Metropolia website (www.metropolia.fi/en), “Information for New Students” in
June 2012.

S T U DY SC HE D U LE
Studies will start according to the schedules on Wednesday 29th of September 2012. You will
receive the information on how to find the Schedules during Orientation Days.
We strongly advise you to commence your studies in time in August 2012 as the courses are
offered only once each year. You may find information on the curriculum in Metropolia’s Study
Guide on http://www.metropolia.fi/en/
AR R A N GE ME N T S BE FO R E S T U D IE S
Please start all the necessary arrangements (such as residence permit, housing,
insurance etc.) as soon as possible after receiving the acceptance letter, so that you are
able to commence your studies in August 2012.
There is a shortage of student accommodation in the Helsinki Metropolitan area, so it is very
important to start arranging the housing right away. Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied
Sciences is not able to offer any student accommodation. It is student’s responsibility to find an
accommodation from Helsinki metropolitan area for the period of their studies. Please see more
information about accommodation from the attached document.
ACCR E D I TA TI O N O F P R I OR LE AR N I N G
If you have previously completed studies in higher education there is a possibility to apply for the
accreditation of prior learning. If you are planning to apply for the accreditation of prior learning
you will need to show original documents and certificates from your previous studies. It is also
required that you will attach the description of the courses that you have completed and would
like to get accredited. More information will be provided during Orientation Days. Accreditation
process will be carried out in autumn.
