Title: “Are You Doing Your Part to Save Water?”
By: Municipal Water District of Orange County
It’s the fourth year of the drought – and it’s serious. The reservoirs we count on to sustain our daily lives
are the lowest they’ve been. We’ve conserved a lot of water, but we have to do more, and we have to
do it now!
Earlier this year, Governor Jerry Brown mandated water use reduction targets for communities
throughout California. These water savings goals range from 8% to 36%, which equates to hundreds of
thousands of gallons each day. If local water agencies fail to meet their targets, strict fines and penalties
will be levied. Are you doing all you can to save water?
In order to achieve local water savings targets, we’re asking Orange County residents to take a closer
look at their daily water use. Does your home have water-efficient appliances (toilets, dishwasher, and
clothes washer)? Are toilet and faucet leaks being repaired immediately? Can you make simple changes
to your daily routine to use less water while showering, washing clothes/dishes, and watering plants?
It’s easier than you might think to make changes that will result in significant water savings.
The Municipal Water District of Orange County and local water agencies offer a variety of resources,
rebates, and programs to help residents reduce their water use. These offerings range from FREE classes
on California Friendly gardening to rebates on High Efficiency Toilets and Clothes Washers. For more
information, please visit www.OCWaterSmart.com.
Thank you for doing your part to save water!
